Ajman University students secures 8 awards at Akoun 2014

Akoun brings together governmental organizations and top-level Emirati entrepreneurs to collectively promote private enterprise to students across the UAE. Students and graduates of Ajman University of Science and Technology, Ajman and Fujairah Campus secured 8 awards in the university level UAE wide contest for the “Best business Idea” Organized by the Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development (ADCED) under the fifth phase of the initiative “Akoun”.

The Akoun Entreprenuership campaign encouraged students to submit the best plan forth. The Second and Third position For the Emirates of Ajman were secured by the 3 Business projects: Spa ‘3aweya ( Fatimah Al Shamsi) and Icare (Reya Al Nuaimi, Shahin Basiratzadeh, Mateen Tahseen, Masoud Dorrikhteh) respectively.

Fujairah Campus students brought home 6 awards from Eastern Region, the details are as follows: First place in the Emirates of Ajman for Project Awareness by Fahd Saleh & Ibrahim Taiasna. In the Emirates of Umm Al Quwain, the Third position was secured by the project “Al Sareea for Planting and Uprooting Services” by Saleh Helmy and Hamad Almesmari. For the Emirates of Ras Al Khaimah third position was awarded for the project “integrated system’ by Saleh Helmy, Abdulla Mohammed, Yusef Haddad, Ahmed Thabet, Yanal Al Shaban and Ali Naser Al Nuaimi.

For the Emirates of Fujairah all top 3 positions were secured by AUST Students: Project Enable Sign by Zulfa Abdulla and Fatma Alyammahi was awarded the First place. The Second place was for the Project UAE Energy by Shaikha Alhefeti and Abrar Alhamoudi while the third place was awarded to the Project Fe 3onek by Ahmed Abdullah Almesmari.

These remarkable achievements are a milestone in the lives of university students. This contest is a perfect opportunity to promote the concept of entrepreneurship among university students and motivate them to start their own business. Some of the students are graduates of the “Thank You Khalifa” Class of 2014 and this platform represents a very influential phase in the series of ongoing support provided by United Arab Emirates to empower the youth. The graduates are going forth into the practical world equipped with the power of knowledge and support of the nation.
