Akram is a Master of Science Degree Holder in Sustainable Design of the Built Environment from the British University in Dubai and also has a Bachelor in Interior Design from Ajman University where he graduated in 2015. He worked in a small company called Al Sham Interiors, then started his work in Ajman University on the 26th of September 2016. Been working there till present time. He has total of 6 years of experience in the field of Interior Design and also in the field of Teaching with multiple implemented projects. He is always is willing to improve himself, and always aspires to learn and develop. Always works on having more publications and researches because theirs a believe that Art & Interior will have a huge impact on the environment and will help in the development of the societies. He always aspires in attending workshops to help in the self-improvement process. He is also interested in developing new design skills with the use of different computational programs.

Governments in advanced countries seek to provide services to their citizens and contribute to raising their standard of living. The countries’ level of progress is measured by the happiness level of their people. The United Arab Emirates Government, through appointing a minister of happiness, endeavors to provide assistance and services to all its citizens, and one of its objectives is to help its citizens to obtain appropriate housing. The Sheikh Zayed Housing Program aims to serve the citizens by providing best possible accommodation for Emirati families so that they achieve stability in society. Ajman University’s Interior Design Department, as part of its role in community development services, will provide consultancies for the project mentioned above, through the research sponsorship of the University and a joint memorandum of understanding between its Interior Design Department and the Zayed Housing Program to design Happy Residences with a low budget.

Introducing new ideas and solutions that serve environmental functions in sustainable building designs have become an enormous challenge recently, particularly with the current practices of architects and designers in this field. To achieve comfort zone in commercial and residential spaces, the three major aspects that have to be considered are thermal, ventilation and daylight. The proposed project is located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and the main purpose of choosing this location is the hot weather in the U.A.E. Therefore, applying the bio-mimicry design on building skins will react as a solution to improve the indoor thermal comfort in reducing solar heat gain and achieving uniformity in daylight as well as focusing on ventilation in certain seasons, to motivate and enhance the natural ventilation pattern and to reduce the energy consumption as well. This study will mainly focus on developing a building. skin that considers locally sourced material such as clay and protect birds’ habitat by creating a place for breeding and feeding the birds as well as to integrate plant pots into the skin to reduce pollution. Secondly, combining it with a natural concept strategy that matches the various systems used, to enhance the indoor environment and the indoor comfort needs. The Simulation software, ECOTECT/IES, was used to measure the daylight and thermal performance levels before and after applying the skin concept. The expected findings of this paper may also help in solving part of the existing building envelopes and evaluate their negative impacts in the hot climate region.

Academic life in universities includes many educational and recreational activities. One of these activities is event management, which is necessary for organizing the reception - registration for new students’ centre. These activities require the effort of the management and the design teams, to ensure their success in order to show the status of the university. The organization of these university events requires an understanding of the nature of work for each event. It consists of collecting all the information and details, technical and logistical equipment necessary for the successful organization of these events. Some universities call for help from specialized companies to organize and design their events, which burdens the budget of universities and many of these cases do not succeed due to lack of understanding of the nature of the academic life. Other universities use the entities within to organize and manage those events, the Interior Design Department of the universities exist as one of its specialized programs capable of coordinating and managing such events.
