Artificial Intelligence Award Secured by Ajman University Alumni

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, awarded the winners of the second UAE Drones for Good Award and the first UAE AI & Robotics Award for Good.  Ajman University of Science and Technology is proud of its graduates who secured the first position in the national category for Artificial Intelligence Robots for Good and took home AED 1 Million as prize.

This is the world’s biggest awards in civilian applications of drones and robotics technology, held in the presence of top dignitaries and international experts during the course of a three-day competition event at Dubai Internet City.

The Smart Guidance System for the Blind won the UAE AI & Robotics Award for Good. It is designed by Ajman University alumni Eng. Monther Al Shehabi, Eng. Abdullah Mohammed Ali, Eng. Ahmed Mohammed Ali and Eng. Mohammed Al Shamsi, Robotics Expert and Ahmed Kareem who is visually impaired and lend his assistance to the team in order to better the system, his services were vital to the team and its success. The project offers to help the blind avoid obstacles, identifying places or objects and navigating from one place to another.

The project originated when the students were accomplishing their graduation project at Ajman University under the supervision of Dr. Mustahsan Mir Head of Electrical Engineering Department at College of Engineering.

Dr. Fahr Hayati, Dean, College of Engineering remarked that this achievement adds to the constellation of achievements that have long made ​​Ajman University and College of Engineering proud of its students and alumni alike.
