Students bagged 6 out of 15 top awards in 5 Categories at the IEEE UAE Student Day 2015 hosted by Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi.

The main aim of this event is to enhance the culture of competition among engineering students and recognize outstanding achievements of IEEE students. It facilitates exchange of knowledge and experience between UAE IEEE students, while enhancing leadership qualities of IEEE students and raise awareness about IEEE in Public.

The projects that won in the Software Engineering Project (SEP) were designed as a  development of an Emergency Response System that allows patients to use their smart phones to let health care centers know when an emergency arises in order to accelerate the process of accessing hospital to people and saving their lives.

Ajman University team comprising of Mohammed Noman, Diaa Almaithalony and Omar Haider won the 1st Prize. This team was supervised by Prof. Mustahsan Mir and Eng. Wessam Ghassan. In addition to meeting all project requirements, the project developed by this team had additional E-Health features.  Another Ajman University  team comprising of Armita Farsiani, Fereshteh Faragi and Sameh Alaa won the 3rd prize. This team was supervised by Eng. Wessam Ghassan.

Engineering Design Project (EDP) was about designing a high jump gadget that shall jump as high a barrier as possible while landing upright on the other side of the barrier. The 1st prize was awarded to Ajman University team comprising of Ammara Javed, Amira Irshad, Kenza Mebrouk and Saadia Naeem. It was supervised by Dr. Samir Tozin and Dr. Hasan Zidan.  Another AUST team comprising of Ruaa Mohammed, Manal Mousa Sharaf, Rabab Hameed, and Faten Ayman won the 3rd Prize. It was under the  supervision of Eng. Maher.

The Common Design Project (CDP) was about building a Mobile Robot Assistant. The robot is able to respond to voice/text commands via a GUI and is able to carry out linear, circular and curved motion. It is able to track and follow a fiducial marker using image processing. Moreover, it can locate and reach a human (by detecting the color of his T-shirt) and avoiding any obstacle. Ajman University team comprising of Oruba Mazen, Manal Abdullah, and Saadia Shoaib won the 3rd prize. It was supervised by Dr. Samir Tozin.

The Community Service Project (CSP); Ajman University team comprising of  Jumana Farhat, Jiana Jamal, Fatima Islam and Nibras Hisham won the 3rd prize. It was supervised by Eng. Iyad A. Naim. The project was aptly titled “For Their Happiness” and its goals were to help people having kidney failure disease, spread the awareness about this disease among local population and to develop a new mobile application that will allow the people to donate online for this cause using their phones.
