Public Lecture at Ajman University by Renowned Designer Eric Broug

Ajman University hosted the famous Dutch designer Eric Broug at its Ajman Campus. He delivered a public lecture entitled “Islamic Geometric Design”, which was followed by a workshop with more than 50 participating students from the departments of Architectural Engineering and Interior Design.

Geometrical design is one of the most distinctive aspects of Islamic art and architecture. Geometry can be seen everywhere in the Islamic world: on buildings, in books, on tiles, on wood, on metal. Workshop participants designed and developed different patterns of Islamic geometric ornaments. Students were excited to meet Mr. Broug whose lecture proved very insightful for them, he also signed books for the enthusiastic participants who adore his writing and respect his knowledge of architecture specially pertaining to the Islamic design.

Ajman University encourages its students and faculty members to enrich their experiences by such initiatives wherein an expert gives a different perspective on a relevant matter. His experience and background assist the students in acquiring a global insight into their subject and field of academia.
