Engineering Students on a Winning Spree

Students from the College of Engineering at Ajman University are on a winning spree. They have secured awards and accolades for the University in the regional and international competitions during the past week.

At the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2015, Ajman University kept up the tradition of winning and holds the title for three consecutive years in a row. This year, students who designed the “Smart Baby Sitter Robot” secured the first position in Innovation Category. The unique invention can monitor the child within set perimeters and criteria. Students in the World Citizenship Category bagged the second position by designing "Healthcare Emergency Response System" it eliminates the time wasted and directly alerts the emergency section of the hospital to the patient’s condition. This connection is established through the device on the patient thereby reducing the response time of the ambulance significantly. The winners will travel to Bahrain for the semi-finals.

Engineering students participating at the Seventh Engineering Students Ethics Competition 2015 (ESEC2015) organized by Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research and Khalifa University IEEE Student Branch was sponsored by the Emirates Advanced Investments (EAI). Ajman University Engineering Students secured the second position at Engineering Students Ethics Competition 2015. This competition is held on GCC level and participants come from all around the GCC to vie for this prestigious award.

Out doing others at the Pan Arab level the Engineering students won for their project “Innovative Tracking System for Indoor Navigation” the Best Poster Presentation Award at Undergraduate Research Conference held at Zayed University. More than 130 participants presented their projects and work and only 8 were awarded, Ajman University was topped them.

“As 2015 is the year of innovation, this years’ commencement ceremony at Ajman University is themed “Class of the Year of Innovation”. These achievements underpin our efforts and belief in providing the best human resource capital to the country; they are innovative, hardworking and determined” expressed Osama Salman, Vice President Ajman University upon receiving the trophy of Innovation from Dr. Fahr Hayati, Dean, College of Engineering. He thanked the supervisors Dr. Mustahsin Mir, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, Ms. Tazeen Sharif and Mr. Shaheen Basiratzadeh for their dedication. Vice President Ajman University congratulated all the winners on their outstanding achievements and encouraged them to further promote their talents on Ajman University platform.
